# Which version you are running, and how updates reach you

AnyKanban is installed once for the whole organization, so everybody in it runs
the same version. Nobody installs or updates anything on their own machine.

## Where to see the version

An administrator sees it under **Organization settings → Extensions**, on the
AnyKanban entry. That is the number to quote when you write to us about a
problem.

## How updates arrive

When we publish a new version to the Marketplace, Azure DevOps updates the
installed extension by itself, and nobody in your organization has to install
anything.

The exception is a version that asks for a new permission (a scope). Azure
DevOps then holds that update, and every later one, until an administrator
authorizes the new scope under **Organization settings → Extensions**, on the
AnyKanban entry. Until then everybody keeps running the version you already
have.

## Getting new versions sooner

A small group of organizations, at their own request, receives new versions
before they reach the Marketplace listing. They get them through a separate
copy of the extension, which appears under **Organization settings →
Extensions** with "(Pilot)" after its name, and that entry shows the version
they run. Boards and preferences are stored per extension, so boards saved in
the regular copy do not appear in the early one. If your organization would
like the same, write to **support@anykanban.com**.
