Edit in place
Small changes without losing the board.
Most of what a process owner does during a stand-up is small: a request that was just agreed needs to exist, a priority is wrong, an SLA date moved. None of that is worth losing your place on the board for. AnyKanban keeps the small changes on the card and sends everything else to the real Azure DevOps work item form, because a form with your process's rules, required fields and extensions is not something worth reimplementing.
Pages
- Add an item without leaving the board: the New item button under the first column, where you type a title, press Enter, and the card is there. Any field other than state, type or project that the backing query sets with a plain equality to a fixed value is already filled in.
- Change a field without opening the item: click a field value on a card to edit it in place, including the host's people picker for Assigned To.
- Open the real work item form: clicking a card title opens the native Azure DevOps form, and the board picks up what you changed when you close it.
What holds for all three
An edit to an item that already exists is a revision-checked write: the card changes first, the server confirms, and a rejection reverts the card with the server's own message rather than failing quietly. A new item has no revision to check, so it is written outright and appears once the server has created it, and a refusal there leaves nothing behind. Either way the failure is shown, never swallowed. If a work item rule needs more than one field to be satisfied, the card is the wrong place. Open the form.
None of this is available while the board shows an As of snapshot. A snapshot is read-only end to end: no inline add, no inline field editing, and no right-click menu on cards. Dismiss the snapshot banner to return to the live board.
